The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing a candidate who was previously endorsed in the 2010 mid-term election.  He is therefore one of 69 Combat Veterans For Congress who have been endorsed over the last three years.  He is a fiscally conservative candidate who has been working to rein in the out of control spending by the Obama Administration and has been working toward unleashing the private sector to grow once again, create jobs, and to stimulate the private sector’s business investment.  Congressman Steve Pearce, Capt-USAF (R-NM-2) http://www.peopleforpearce.com is running for re-election in the 2nd Congressional District of New Mexico against Evelyn Madrid Erhard (D-MN-2).  Cong Pearce was first elected for three terms to Congress in the 2nd Congressional District in New Mexico; in 2008, he ran for the US Senate in New Mexico and was defeated in the Obama landslide.    In 2010, Congressman Pearce’s called for transparency with regard to Obama’s Administration backroom deals costing the American people billions of dollars, and contributing to the bankruptcy of the Republic.  Upon returning to Congress in 2011, Cong Pearce’s top priority has been making sure that New Mexicans have jobs and making sure that the federal government keeps its promises to the brave men and women who serve our nation. Currently, Cong Pearce serves on the House Financial Services Committee and is Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus.

Steve Pearce was raised in Hobbs New Mexico, where his father worked as a roustabout, selling vegetables on the side of the road to make ends meet.  With six children to feed, times were often hard in the Pearce household, but his upbringing has made it easy for Congressman Pearce to relate to the hardworking people in southern New Mexico.  Steve attended New Mexico public schools his entire life, and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Economics (BS) from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico.
Congressman Pearce was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force and received his wings in 1970.  Lt. Pearce served for a one and a half year tour in the Vietnam Theatre supporting ground forces; he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.  Capt Pearce continued on active duty with the Strategic Air Command and separated honorably from the US Air Force as a Captain in 1976.  As a Veteran,  the issues facing the men and women who have fought for the nation are of great importance to Congressman Pearce.  During the most recent term, Cong Pearce held quarterly meetings with the VA and constituents across the 2nd Congressional District to ensure that the needs of Veterans were heard and addressed.  He has also established the Veterans’ Advisory Council in New Mexico’s Second Congressional District and is a strong advocate for the US Armed Forces and our Veterans.

In addition to his firsthand knowledge of the military and its importance to America, Congressman Pearce is a respected small-businessman who thoroughly understands the economic issues facing the Republic.  He and his wife Cynthia long owned and operated Lea Fishing Tools, an oilfield service company in Hobbs.  Because of this role, Congressman Pearce is well aware of the regulations and taxes that plague small-business owners, and wants to help get government out of the way of theses hard-working American businessman.  Having built his business from the ground up, Congressman Pearce created 50 jobs in his community, is strong proponent of the Free Enterprise System, and is confident that small businesses throughout southern New Mexico form the backbone for job creation and economic growth.

The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is pleased to endorse Cong Steve Pearce, Capt-USAF who continues to bring to Congress skills and wisdom to better solve problems in government and represent the 2nd Congressional District of New Mexico and the Republic. If you review Cong Pearce’s positions on his Web site, you would be pleased with his stands; they agree with the Combat Veterans For Congress Mission Statement.  We look forward to working with Cong Pearce, and are pleased that a Combat Veteran of his caliber is running for re-election to Congress.  If you have friends, associates, or relatives who know voters in the 2nd Congressional District of New Mexico, kindly pass this E-mail on to them, and ask them to support Congressman Pearce by working in his campaign, providing financial support for his campaign in any amount, and/or by networking with others who would be willing to support his campaign.  The military is one of the few remaining institutions producing the caliber of men and women needed to restore this nation to the greatness our Founding Fathers envisioned.  We have endorsed another Combat Veteran For Congress that General George Washington would have approved of.  He is a Veteran who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount “up to and including his life.”
