Navy SEAL Teams Being Forced to Open Doors To Women

  • Navy SEAL Teams Being Forced to Open Doors To Women

By Capt Joseph R. John, September 30, 2015

With a US population of 350 million Americans to recruit from, the below listed article reports that the Obama administration is continuing to further degrade the “Combat Effectiveness” of another tip of the spear unit by forcing women into US Navy SEAL Teams. The US Armed Forces exists to deter the nations enemies, foreign and domestic, and to win the nations wars, is was not created to become a politically correct organization, in order to give women an opportunity to check off a qualification so they can advance in rank.

Women can definitely perform very important military duties, and in some cases better than men, and they should definitely be assigned to preform those military duties to support the US Armed Forces (among those duties are as pilots in aviation billets, in intelligence, as astronauts, in offensive & defensive missile systems, as para medics, in nuclear weapons, in cyber security, in radar systems, in national security, in law, in medicine, in supply, in satellite communications, in logistics, in maintenance, military police work, high tech computer simulation, finance, and in so many other areas too numerous to list here).  If General Martin Dempsey displayed the competence that previous Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs demonstrated in their decisions making ability over the last 70 years it would have been appreciated by members of the US Armed Forces, instead of always doing the “Politically Correct” thing so not to offend Obama.  Instead of caving in, General Dempsey should have threatened to offer his resignation, unless the Secretary of Navy could demonstrate how integrating women into US Navy SEAL Teams would increase the unit cohesiveness, the tactical integrity, unit moral, and the “Combat Effectiveness” of US Navy SEAL Teams.

General Dempsey should have informed Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, who knows absolutely nothing about how tip of spear units function in combat operations, that women would be required to operate weeks on end in the field away from their support bases, often behind enemy lines in face to face hand to hand, vile, bloody, bitter combat, requiring them to brutally kill and maiming enemy combat personnel with no quarter given by either side (Mabus had less than 2 years of service as a junior officer in the Naval Reserve and that service ended abruptly).  For nearly 7 years, Mabus has every one of his decision affecting the lives of personnel in the US Navy and US Marine Corps, colored not by what was is best for their welfare of personnel, or not how it would affect the “Combat Effectiveness” of their units, but his decisions were colored by how they would be viewed by the Obama administration with regard to being precisely  “Politically Correct”.   Mabus’ decisions have negatively affected personnel in the US Navy, US Marine Corps, and Midshipmen at US Naval Academy, and seriously degraded unit integrity, unit cohesiveness, unit moral, and the “Combat Effectiveness” in US Navy ships & units, combat units in the US Marine Corps, and at the Naval Academy, where his admission policies for entering Plebes divided by preset percentages of acceptance by gender and race, not by college board ranking and merit as it once was, setting percentages is in violation of the Supreme Court color blind and gender neutral ruling for all national institutions of higher education.

Unfortunately, the always “Politically Correct” Mabus, following the marching orders of the occupant in the Oval Office and Valerie Jarrett, and just contributed to degrading the “Combat Effectiveness” of the US Marine Corps infantry ground combat units.  Mabus disregarded an exhaustive multi-million dollar long term US Marine Corps study on the effectiveness of inserting women in front line infantry combat units, that exhaustive study was completed in early 2015.  The results of the  exhaustive study demonstrated, without any doubt, that mixed-gender ground combat infantry units perform the majority of critical battlefield tasks worse than all male units; that the tactical integrity, unit cohesiveness, unit morale, and “Combat Effectiveness” was negatively affected by inserting women into all male infantry front line combat units.

By watching the Olympics games ever 4 years, it would be obvious to even a casual observer, that women do not have the bone mass, muscle strength, or stamina of men in similar physical shape, while competing in the same, but separate events—the world records for men are better than the world record for women in the same events, in the majority of cases.  By inserting women into front line combat infantry units, the military would be creating a weak point in the unit that the enemy will take advantage of.   Men, by their very nature, instinctively try to protect women in their front line units and that open males to the possibility of being more easily wounded in their attempts to protect the women in their units (The Israeli Defense Force documented repeated acts by men to protect women in their front line units during combat operation, which resulted in males being more susceptible to  combat injuries); those practices creates a weak point in a unit, where a male will instinctively watch over a female more than he would watch over another male..  Despite the fact that inserting women in Marine Corps ground combat infantry units would be dangerous for the unit as a whole, and would degrade the “Combat Effectiveness” of Marine Corps ground combat infantry units, Mabus, Jarrett, and Obama turned a blind eye toward the exhaustive study, toward similar studies completed by the British Army, and similar studies completed by the Israeli Defense Force---they went headlong and ordered women to be inserted in Marine Corps front line ground combat infantry units---a violation of the trust the American people gave them.

The trio of Mabus, Jarrett, and Obama, who have been intent on inserting women into front line US Marine Corps combat infantry units, regardless of what the result of an exhaustive multi-million study recommended, are now intent of forcing another of their “Politically Correct “ integration plans for inserting women into another tip of the spear military units, and are forcing the US Navy Special Warfare Commands to open up the training of women in BUDs to qualify them for assignment to US Navy SEAL Teams.  That inept decision will be as damaging for US Navy SEAL Teams as it is for US Marine Corps front line infantry combat units, for exactly the same reasons that were pointed out in paragraphs 3 and 4 above, that would negatively affect the US Marine Corps ground combat infantry units.

This most recent destabilizing action affecting US Navy SEAL Teams, is another action in a long list of actions that have degraded the US Armed Forces over the last nearly 7 years, in the continued attempt by the occupant of the Oval Office and Valerie Jarrett to further weaken the military by executing policies that are degrading the “Combat Effectiveness.”  Obama was only able to enact these destructive policies on the US Armed Forces, after he and Jarret removed over 200 Flag & General Officer and thousands of senior enlisted non-commissioned officers after they established continuation boards, that eliminated many strong military traditionalists from the US Armed Forces; that process removed those who didn’t agree with how Obama’s actions were negatively affecting the traditional conservative and Christian values of members of the US Armed Forces.

Obama now has secured firm control of a fully compliant Flag and General Officers Corps, which is allowing him to finally target the Naval Special Warfare Commands and US Navy SEAL Teams with no internal objections.  It follows Obama and Jarrett’s initial coordinated efforts over the last nearly 7 years to weaken the overall strength of the US Navy, US Army, and US Air Force to levels before WWI for the Navy and WWII for the Army by reducing their budgets, by driving the destabilizing Social Experiment On Diversity into the US Armed Forces (in violation of Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution, “only Congress can make regulations for the land and naval forces of the US”), by warning every member of the US Armed Forces to only make decisions that are considered to be “Politically Correct” if they expect to get promoted, by violating the Freedom of Religion of the Christian Chaplains and members of the US Armed Forces, and by changing the Rules Of Engagement that now restrict personnel in combat from employing suppression fire and other defensive measures that they once were once able to employ, to protect themselves from enemy attack.

This latest action by Obama that will degrade the “Combat Effectiveness” of US Navy SEAL Teams is criminal and can be easily termed something much more sinister.  It is time for the US Congress to subpoena Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, and the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey’s (even though he has been relieved) to testify before the US House Armed Service Committee and explain why they continue to degrade the “Combat Effectiveness” of US Navy SEAL Teams, which is a violation of the oath they swore to uphold.

The FBI recently informed the Congress that 250+ retuning American citizens who are being permitted to return to the US by Obama, without being arrested and jailed, after killing thousands of Christians while fighting alongside ISIS (they are mostly recent refugees or refugee off springs who went thru Obama’s fast track US citizenship program for Muslim refugees).  Those retuning terrorists with Us passports, and hundreds of other ISIS Radical Islamic Terrorists, who have been entering the US thru the wide open southern border are a serious internal security threat to the safety of the homeland (to date the FBI has broken up some 80 terrorist cells plotting to kill Americans, yet the border remains wide open).  In the midst of this clear terrorist threat, Obama is degrading the “Combat Effectiveness” of US Navy SEAL Teams.  Will the US Congress sit idly by, while one action after another is being taken by the occupant in the Oval Office and Valerie Jarrett to degrade the “Combat Effectiveness” of the US Armed Forces, in the face of the most dangerous threats from ISIS Radical Islamic Terrorists facing the United States since the 9/11 attack?

Navy SEALs ready to open doors to women

WASHINGTON — The commander of the Navy's special warfare units is recommending that the SEALs and combat crew jobs be opened to women, but he warns that women will have greater risk of injury and says the service may be pressured to adjust or lower standards for the jobs.

In a five-page memo, Rear Adm. Brian Losey said that "there are no insurmountable obstacles" to opening the commando jobs to women, but he warned that there are "foreseeable impacts" to integrating them into ground combat units. Losey is the head of the Navy's Special Warfare Command, which includes the SEAL teams and special warfare combatant craft crewmen.

Losey's memo to U.S. Special Operations Command was obtained by The Associated Press. It comes as the U.S. military services are in the final weeks of discussion over whether to ban women from any front-line combat jobs. The Army, Navy and Air Force are expected to open all positions to women, but Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford, who just left his post as commandant of the Marine Corps, has recommended that certain Marine infantry and ground combat jobs remain closed to women.

Dunford became chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Friday.

While Losey outlines many of the same concerns as the Marine Corps has about how women will fare in some of the military's most demanding jobs, he comes to a different conclusion.

Allowing all qualified candidates to "test themselves" against the difficult physical, mental and other standards required to become a special warfare officer "is ultimately the right thing to do and is clearly consistent with the struggle over centuries to fully represent our nation's values of fairness and equal opportunity," his memo opens.

But Losey states upfront that putting women in the commando jobs is not expected to increase the units' ability to fight in combat. In fact, he said, the effort to integrate the units and change the culture "will channel focus and energy away from core combat readiness and effectiveness efforts."

He said that while there may be "external" pressure to adjust the standards so that women can successfully pass, it's not likely that would succeed. The standards, he said, have been honed over the past 50 years, and that 70 percent of men fail.

"With the recent female graduates from the Ranger course, there may be an expectation that there will soon be female graduates from BUD/S," he said, referring to the SEALs course. "We will welcome any candidate who meets standards."

Losey recommended that Special Warfare Command should manage expectations, and to the extent possible remove gender identity from the application process so that only the most qualified will be selected.

He downplayed the risk of women disrupting social cohesion, saying that while members of the special warfare units may not want women serving alongside them, "acceptance is expected to increase over time." Men, however, will have to adapt to female teammates and the women may face unwarranted scrutiny, isolation and ostracization.

He said there are about 500 women serving in certain Naval Special Warfare Command jobs, including in combat support missions, and they have been deploying with units for more than a decade.

One of the highest risks, he said, involves physical and medical challenges for women. Over the past several years, as the military services have studied and debated the integration of women into combat, there have been persistent concerns about how well they can handle the more extreme physical demands of the jobs and the possible long-term medical impact that may go with it.

Losey said officials expect higher injury rates for women during training, and called for more education and study on the issue.

He also noted that the initial female candidates would be subject to significant media attention that would distract the staff and students and could jeopardize the long-standing mandate that commandos' identities be protected. He recommended that media access be controlled and prohibited at times.

The military services are expected to send their final recommendations to Defense Secretary Ash Carter soon.

In January 2013, then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey ordered that a quarter-million positions open regardless of gender. They called for sweeping reviews of the physical requirements for combat jobs and gave the military services until January 2016 to argue if any positions should remain closed to women.
