Florida's New Law Enforcement Protection Act

  • Florida's New Law Enforcement Protection Act

By Capt Joseph R. John, September 25, 2020; Op Ed #510

An endorsed and elected Combat Veteran For Congress, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Lcdr-USNR (JAGC), proposed Florida’ new Law Enforcement Protection Act, which will soon pass.  That Law Enforcement Protection Act is the most comprehensive law every drawn up to protect American Citizens, Law Enforcement Officers, and the personal property of American Citizens in the nation.  Details of the provisions of Florida’s new Law Enforcement Protection Act are explained by Gov DeSantis in the video that can be listened to, by clicking on the following link  https://youtu.be/6A9YU-WSh0Y

If the Governors of the other 49 states in the US passed a Law Enforcement Protection Act for their states with the same provisions as those outlined by Gov DeSantis, the violent riots, looting, and anarchy led by Black Lives Matter Marxists and Antifa Domestic Terrorists, who are the foot soldiers of the Socialist Democrat Party whose $2 billion destruction of personal property, murder of 700 Americans, attacks and ambushes of over 800 Law Enforcement Officers (requiring hospitalization) that occurred in 300+ Democrat-controlled Sanctuary Cities over the last 8 months would cease.

The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC initially endorsed Lt Ron DeSantis, USNR (JAGC) in 2012 to run for Congress in the 6th Congressional District of Florida, and supported his re-elections in two subsequent Congressional elections until 2018, when Cong DeSantis announced his intention to run for Governor of Florida.  The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC then endorsed Cong DeSantis to run for Governor and aggressively promoted his candidacy.  On August 28, 2018, Cong DeSantis won the Republican primary for the gubernatorial election.  On September 10, 2018, Cong DeSantis resigned from his seat in the US House of Representatives to focus on his campaign for Governor of Florida.

Cong DeSantis was officially certified as the winner of the general election for Governor of Florida on November 20, 2018.  Cong DeSantis was inaugurated as the 46th Governor of the State Florida in January 2019 and has served in that office ever since; Gov DeSantis’ initial endorsement bio as a Combat Veteran For Congress in 2012 is listed below.  Gov DeSantis' Military awards include the Bronze Star Medal (Meritorious service), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd Award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Gulf War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Ribbon.

At age 42, Gov Ron DeSantis is the youngest incumbent governor of any state in the United States.  We encourage the recipients of this e-mail to lobby the governors of their individual states to pass a new Law Enforcement Protection Act for their individual states, with the same provisions as Governor DeSantis’ new Law Enforcement Protection Act in Florida.  Such a Law would help to put an end to the out of control violent rioting, looting, and anarchy in Blue Sanctuary States and Blue Sanctuary Cities controlled by Democrats.

For 8 months, those Democrats Governors and Mayors have continued to refuse to rein in the out of control nightly rioting and anarchy.  The Governors and Mayors of the Blue States and Blue Cities continue to look the other way while thousands of their lawless Radical Leftists, Progressive, and Marxists white privileged students continued to riot in the streets every night.  At the same time, those Governors and Mayors continue to prevent their law abiding citizens from attending church services and the children in their states from returning to public and private schools, ignoring the fact and refusing to publish the fact that the survival rate from COVID-19 in the United States exceeds 99%.

LT DeSantis’ current Reserve Billet is with Region Legal Service Office, SE; his duties include presiding over Article 32 investigations and providing command advice to Naval Reserve Commanding Officers, with various duty assignments at US Naval Station, Mayport, FL and the US Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, FL.  For his duty assignment with SEAL Team ONE in support of counterinsurgency missions in Iraq he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal (Meritorious Service), his other awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd Award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Gulf War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. the Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Ribbon.

Ron DeSantis is an accomplished military and federal prosecutor, has authored a book entitled Dreams From Our Founding Fathers: First Principles in the Age of Obama which was published in 2011 (www.DreamsFromOurFoundingFathers.com).  Since the publication of Dreams from Our Founding Fathers, he has given speeches throughout Florida, including in Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Venice, Gainesville, and the Villages.  He has also been teaching U.S. Military Law at home and abroad – a course he personally designed based on his operational experiences and court-martial cases – at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, FL.  His writing has appeared in National Review Online, the Washington Times, The American Spectator, Human Events, and the American Thinker.

Ron has been endorsed by Erick Erickson the Managing editor of RedState.com, has been lauded by Donald Trump, and is being supported by the former Jacksonville Mayor John Peayton.  He is a member of the VFW, the American Legion, Ponte Vedra Beach Republican Club, the Conservative Republican Forum of Jacksonville, the Association of the United States Navy, and Yale Baseball Alumni Association.  He has been married to Casey Black DeSantis for nearly three years; Casey is an Emmy Award-winning television host of the show “First Coast Living.” They attend Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

The Combat Veterans for Congress PAC is pleased to endorse LT Ron DeSantis, USNR (JAG) who will bring to Congress extraordinary public sector and private sector skills and wisdom to better solve problems and represent his Congressional District and the Republic. If you review Lt DeSantis’ positions on his website, you would be pleased with his stands; they agree with the Combat Veterans For Congress Mission Statement.  We look forward to working with LT DeSantis, and are pleased that a Combat Veteran of his caliber is running for Congress.

If you have friends, associates, or relatives who know voters in the 6th Congressional District of Florida, kindly pass this e-mail on to them, and ask them to support LT DeSantis by working in his campaign, providing financial support for his campaign in any amount, and/or by networking with others who would be willing to support his campaign.  The military is one of the few remaining institutions producing the caliber of men and women needed to restore this nation to the greatness our Founding Fathers envisioned.  We have endorsed another Combat Veteran For Congress that General George Washington would have approved of.  He is a Veteran who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount “up to and including his life.”
