When It Realized Obama Had Been Lying About Spending Cuts, the Washington Post Was Shocked

  • When It Realized Obama Had Been Lying About Spending Cuts, the Washington Post Was Shocked

When Obama was running for re-election, he told the American people and the news media repeatedly, if elected, he would definitely cut spending and raise some taxes in a balanced approach (raising revenue is the “code name” employed by the Obama for raising taxes and now for some reason the Republicans are using that “code word”—it’s not revenue its “taxes”—they think the American people are stupid).  The liberal Washington Post that endorsed Obama for re-election, expressed shock, in the attachment, upon learning that Obama has no intention at all of negotiating spending cuts.  Once the Republicans agreed to accept higher taxes on the rich as long as government spending is cut significantly and incentives to work and invest are not weakened, Obama moved the goal post by proposing increased tax “rates’, imposing $1.6 trillion in new taxes, and called for $255 billion in new spending.  The American people are currently paying the highest taxes in the history of the Republic, and if Obama’s proposed $1.6 trillion in new taxes are added to the 20 new taxes imposed on all Americans by the flawed Obama Health Care Bill, the effects will be devastating on economic recovery.  The tax burden on the American people is unsustainable and should not be increased in a recession.  The Republican Congress has made four annual budget proposals in a row, they were designed to cut entitlement expenditures, yet the left of center liberal media establishment has been misrepresenting fact, by repeating that Republicans have not yet put forth their proposals for spending cuts.  House Speaker John Boehner suggested that the framework for spending cuts were first laid out by Democrat Erskine Bowles during last year’s budget negotiations and those proposals should serve as a starting point to avert the year-end financial crisis.   Obama’s failure to sit down with the two sides to discuss desperately needed spending cuts has resulted in the current grid lock; there are at least 80 government spending programs with rampant fraud, waste, and abuse that should reined in.   Unfortunately, Obama continues his “overreach” and is revealing his obsession to increase out of control spending, while demanding increases in tax rates; Obama is pushing the nation into an irreversible fiscal hole.

The reason the Republic is facing these very serious financial calamities as a direct result of the 4 year out of control spending by the Obama Administration; that continued spending is a cancer on the Republic.  Although some politicians say there is no such thing as the dangers of a Fiscal Cliff, there certainly are very serious economic dangers facing the Republic.  If the Senate and the House can’t come to an agreement, the stock market would take a serious decline, there would be another downgrade in the US credit rating, government funding for services will be reduced because the interest paid on the national debt will increase, the taxes on “all” Americans would increase when President Bush’s reduced taxes are reinstated by Obama, it is projected that 700,000 jobs would be lost and businesses would refrain from hiring new employees because of the flawed Obama Health Care Bill, the unemployment rate would substantially increase above the 8% level, the flawed Health Care Bill will impose 20 new taxes on “all” Americans in 2013, the Republic will be driven into another recession because higher taxes & out of control spending in a recession, and the debt ceiling issue facing Congress will become more contentious than ever because Obama is demanding to be the first resident of the Oval Office to demand unilateral control over setting the national debt ceiling.

Republicans must refuse to engage in ad hoc summitry and insist upon returning to a regular committee-based legislative process that includes annual budget resolutions and open-floor amendments.  To clear up the issues concerning the financial crisis facing the nation, the Congress should hold ?open” hearing, to deal with one budget issue at a time, passing one bill at a time; all Americans would be able to understand that the House of Representatives has presented a responsible budget every year for 4 years, and the Senate has refused to propose any budget “at all” for 4 years which is a violation of law.  The American people could witness an “open” negotiations process; the current closed door negotiations are not in the best interest of the American people and will lead to a very bad outcome for the Republic.  The Republican leadership in Congress, should present logical arguments and explain their policy views to voters and visibly demonstrate that they are trying to reach agreements while the Democrats who are still stuck in a campaign mode. The Republican House should ignore the negative drum beat by the left of center liberal media establishment, and do what is right for our children and grandchildren.  The Congress controls the purse strings and should cut back the irresponsible and out of control spending by the Obama Administration, which is saddling our children with an unacceptable debt that they would never be able to repay.  Base line accounting should be eliminated, and standard accounting practices that every publicly traded corporation is required to use, should be employed by the federal government; that would help document many unnecessary annual expenditures.

Prior to the election, there was a cut in spending of $1 trillion in the military budget crafted by Obama ($480 billion has already been cut, and $520 billion will be cut when sequestering soon takes effect; sequestration was designed and crafted by Obama---he will sit on his hands until it takes effect to ensure it takes place to raise taxes on every American).  Half of all government cuts in spending in the sequestration agreement will be taken from the military budget, when only 23% of all government expenditures are military expenditure; the Republican House leadership foolishly agreed to those massive out of proportion military cuts and let the 77% spending by the rest of bloated government bureaucracies get away with a 50% cut in the fraud, waste, abuse, and out of control spending.  Although no other government Department other than DOD has been cut by $1 trillion, Obama’s improperly transferred $711 billion from the nearly bankrupt Medicare Trust Fund, in order to fund his flawed Obama Health Care Bill.

The role of the Republican Congress is not to commit suicide, and assist Obama in destroying even more jobs, in crippling US business owners and job creators by raising taxes to unreasonable levels, and in damaging the Republic even further by increasing the out of control spending that would drive the Republic to $25 trillion in debt and push the Republic into bankruptcy.   We will never get the country on a sound financial footing, unless the out of control spending by the Obama Administration is reined in, and the largest taxes in US history being proposed by Obama are cut back to stimulate an economic expansion, like 6 US President previously did.  President Harding, President Coolidge, President Kennedy, President Nixon, President Reagan (who cut tax rates from 70% to 28%), and President Clinton all cut taxes to stimulate spending, and turned the economy around during their tenures.  Obama’s demands for new stimulus spending, his abandonment of deficit reduction & serious entitlement reforms, and his demand for $1.6 trillion in new taxes as his “balanced approach” to stave off a financial disaster is truly laughable. The financial crisis may be temporarily averted by a short term agreement by the Republicans and Democrats in Congress just prior to January 1st.  If there is another one of those short term fixes, the Congress would not be doing its job; they would be kicking the can down the road again once again.
