Roth, Jr. ANG (R-WI-8)  of Grand Chute, Wisconsin served in the Wisconsin Air National Guard from 2003 to 2010 and is running for election for Congress in the 8th Congressional District of Wisconsin.  He is running against Congressman Steve Kagen (D-WI-8).  Rep Kagen has been an ally of Nancy Pelosi in promoting the Obama Administration’s policies including votes in support of the Stimulus Bill, Cap and Trade, Health Care Reform and Finance Reform.   He is the nephew to long time Wisconsin Congressmen Toby Roth.  Roger Roth was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on February 5, 1978 and grew up in Fox Valley.  Roger graduated from St Mary’s Central Catholic High School in Menasha WI in 1996.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh with a BS in History in 2001.

SSgt Roth enlisted in the Wisconsin Air National Guard on June 30, 2003.  He was trained as an Egress Systems (Ejection Seat) Mechanic.  Roger was quickly promoted through the ranks, becoming a Staff Sergeant in 2007.  SSgt Roth has deployed to the Middle East for active duty on four tours from 2004 to 2009.  From November 2004 through January 2005, SSgt Roth served at Al-Udaid Air Base in Qatar in support of Operation Noble Eagle.  He deployed to Joint Air Base Balad, Iraq on three tours that extended from June 23 to August 9, 2006, January 16 to March 10, 2008 and September 19 to November 12, 2009 where he and his section maintained aircraft providing close air support for combat operations throughout Iraq; while on duty there, the base often came under mortar attack.  Staff Sergeant Roth separated from the ANG after his enlistment period ended in January 2010 to focus on the Congressional race.  For his service SSgt Roth was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal as well as other service and campaign medals.

Roger has worked in his family’s construction business, Roth & Sons Construction, for over 20 years.  This small business experience gave him an appreciation of what it takes to establish and maintain a business including valuable insights as to the challenges small businesses face in the light of government regulation.  The building industry gave Roger interaction with a wide range of businesses. Relating to material suppliers, realtors, insurance agents, home and business owners, lenders, sub-contractors, individual workers from various fields and the general public were all part of this valuable experience.

In 2006, Roger Roth was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly to represent the 56th Assembly District.  In the Wisconsin State Assembly, Rep. Roth has built a reputation as a strong fiscal conservative fighting against the tax and spend policies of Democratic Governor Jim Doyle and the Democrat led state legislature.  He is the Ranking Member on the Assembly Housing Committee and a member of the Insurance and Law Revisions Committees.  Rep. Roth has introduced legislation to spur small business growth, remove restrictions on small business and to challenge the constitutionality of the federal Health Care Reform Bill.   He has been a champion of Veteran’s issues, fighting to protect the Wisconsin GI Bill and voting to provide full funding of state Veterans programs and operational funding of the state’s veterans homes.

Rep. Roth’s experience in small business, the military and in the legislature has prepared him to be a voice of the people that will take control out of the hands of politicians and put it back into the hands of the people.  Rep. Roth has been endorsed by Wisconsin Right to Life, the National Defense PAC, Iraq Veterans for Congress and hundreds of local leaders.  He received a 100 percent approval rating from Pro-Life Wisconsin.   In addition, he has been endorsed two times by the NRA for his state office because of his commitment to protect 2nd Amendment rights.  He has the support of former State Representatives John Ainsworth and Dick Matty as well as current State Representatives Kevin Petersen, John Nygren, Gary Tauchen and Jeff Mursau.   SSgt Roth belongs to American Legion Post 38, Veterans of Foreign Wars 2778 and AMVETS Post 1212.

A Veteran is someone who, at one point of his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount “up to and including his life."  If you review SSgt Roth’s positions on his Web site, you would be pleased with his stances; they agree with the Combat Veterans For Congress Mission Statement.  We look forward to working with Representative Roth, and are pleased that a Combat Veteran of his caliber is running for Congress.   If you have friends, associates, or relatives who know voters in the 8th Congressional District of Wisconsin, kindly pass this E-mail on to them and ask them to support Rep. Roger Roth by working on his campaign, providing financial support for his campaign in any amount, and/or by networking with others who would be willing to support his run for Congress.
